Croatia the Not So Hidden Gem! Part 2: Dubrovnik!
Posted on 13 April 2017
In the summer of 2015, my girls and I decided that we were going to find new places to visit and we decided to head to Dubrovnik, Croatia and were not disappointed at all. We originally though about staying a few different cities in this short time and then decided instead of adding so many extra travel days that we would just stay in one place and make every day a new adventure. After spending sometime researching hotels we agreed on spending a little bit more money and staying at a really nice place and it was definitely the best decision as we fell in love with the Ariston Hotel. It is right on the beach, well they created a beach out of rocks, there's no soft sand to lie on, but there are plenty of chairs to get comfy by the water or one of the many pools. The rooms are gorgeous and spacious, we were very comfortable sharing the space between three girls.

Every evening we would find a new place to eat and watch the sunset and we found quite a few incredible places in Dubrovnik. The first place we stopped at was called Cave Bar More and we stopped for some apps and watched the sun go down.

Another night we went to this beautiful restaurant called Panorama Restaurant and Bar. You have to take a cable car up the side of a mountain to get to the restaurant at the top and its so worth it! When you get to the top you can see the entire city below and watch the sunset, it was magical! The food and drinks were really good too!

We spent the day exploring the old city of Dubrovnik and it's absolutely breathtaking. I love the mix of old and new worlds. During the summer time it is extremely hot, so it's best to start exploring in the evening when the sun isn't blazing down on you... we learned the hard way!

The TV show Game of Thrones is filmed all over the city so it was really cool to see all the places where the show comes to life. We decided to do a "Game of Thrones Tour" and we got really lucky because it was just us in the van with the tour guides. We had an amazing day exploring all over Dubrovnik to see all the spots where the show is filmed. Super cool experience and if you are a fan of the show I highly recommend you take this tour!

The highlight of the trip for me was when we took a boat to Lokrum, also knows as "Peacock Island." We weren't sure if people were just hyping it up or if there really was an island full of peacocks... but when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. We spent the afternoon making friends with what felt like hundreds, maybe even thousands of peacocks! Definitely a must-do when you go to Dubrovnik!
We loved Dubrovnik! Can't wait to go back...
